WASHINGTON – Z-Burger, Bobby’s Burger Palace and Elevation Burger are all popular places for burgers and fries in the D.C. area.
But this week, they all have to bow down to another favorite spot — Five Guys.
WTOP readers and listeners have voted Five Guys as the eatery with the best burgers and fries in the region.
“The burgers are better than McDonalds’ burgers, Burger King and Checkers,” says customer Antonio Reed. He also says the thickness of the fries is another draw.
Five Guys is known for giving its patrons a bag full of fries which often overflow from a white, styrofoam cup. The bag the fries are placed in are left to soak up the grease.
“They’re juicy, but still not soggy,” says customer Taylor Popshul about the fries.
Five Guys boasts that its burgers are made with 100 percent beef with no preservatives, and they’re all made well-done.
Customers also have the option of ordering a burger without the bun.
Too hungry to wait on your order? Five Guys offers a rarity to hold over hungry stomachs. Shelled peanuts are made available for customers to snack on while they wait for their food order.
In the WTOP Top 10 vote, Five Guys beat out Bobby’s Burger Palace and Elevation Burger — which placed second and third, respectively — in the vote for best burger. Five Guys also beat Thashers and Boardwalk Fries in the category for best fries.
